Founded in 1625 by Irish Franciscan Luke Wadding OFM and now home to an international fraternity of OFM Franciscans.

Our Church, dedicated to Saint Isidore, is the Irish National Church in Rome.

About Us

Who we are

The College is one of several houses in Rome dependent on the Minister General of the Franciscan Order. It is the home of the Collegium Sancti Bonaventurae – International Center for Franciscan Studies and Research. Friars in formation also form part of the community in St Isidore’s while attending colleges in the city.

The main activities of the community are research and scientific publication, the training of Irish friars in formation and the care of two major research libraries.

Currently, the fraternity has friars from Korea, Italy, Ireland, Slovenia, Germany, Poland, and the USA..

Saint Francis of Assisi

The Rule and life of the Friars Minor is this, namely, to observe the Holy Gospel of Our Lord Jesus Christ, by living in obedience, without anything of one’s own, and in chastity.

English Language Sunday Mass

Our Church is open to members of the public for Sunday Mass in English every Sunday at 10 am. (Except in the month of August).

In accordance with new Church directives masks are no longer required but are recommended.
